Each system is considered as a complete attraction, including structure, route, safety system, activity elements, access, supervision, inspection and long-term maintenance.
This provides operators with a clearer pathway for documentation, lifecycle support, inspection, maintenance and future modification.
Journey-Based Course Design
All Trail Course Systems are designed as journeys.
Closed-loop courses allow participants to start and finish in the same location, supporting efficient supervision, circulation and group management.
A-to-B courses create a linear journey through the site, with participants starting and finishing in different locations.
A-to-B layouts often finish with a zip line, Powerfan descent or other return-to-ground activity, creating a clear endpoint and strong final experience.

Safety System Selection
Trail Course Systems can be configured with a range of proprietary safety systems selected to suit the course layout, participant group, supervision model and operating environment.
Options may include smart belay systems, continuous safety systems, roller-based systems or rigid beam and track systems for suitable applications.
Adventure Developments works with clients to select an appropriate safety system rather than treating the safety system as a generic add-on.
Activity Element Library
Trail Course Systems are configured from element libraries that support both individual and team-based participation.
Element selection is guided by the intended participant experience, course difficulty, supervision model and operational flow.

Participant flow, briefing areas, safety system operation, rescue access, supervision positions, inspection requirements and long-term maintenance are considered alongside the activity design.

Selecting the Right Trail Course System
The right Trail Course System depends on site layout, terrain, participant profile, supervision model, throughput, desired journey style and long-term support requirements.
Some sites benefit from compact closed-loop courses, while others are better suited to A-to-B journeys that move through the site and finish with a zip line, Powerfan descent or other final activity.
The right trail course is not always the largest course or the one with the most demanding elements. A successful course should sit comfortably within the site, work with the natural topography and create a journey that feels logical for participants and practical for operators.
In some cases, two or three smaller trail courses linked by footpaths can provide better participant flow, supervision and program flexibility than one large continuous course.
